After a hiatus, Cipherceval is back — and the channel has a new name: Forgebound Research. In this episode, he explains the rebrand, what’s staying the same, and what’s coming next.
Why the Rebrand?
The name Exploit Brokers isn’t going away entirely — it’s now officially Exploit Brokers by Forgebound Research. The new name comes from the idea of being bound to the forge: in blacksmithing you don’t heat metal once and call it done. You hammer it, refine it, temper it. That’s how Cipherceval thinks about cybersecurity education — continuous learning, continuous refinement.
What’s Changing
The show is shifting to a hybrid model with two types of episodes. News commentary — concise breakdowns of what happened, why it matters, and what you should do. And lab-driven deep dives — when a major incident hits, Cipherceval waits a few days, pulls the malicious code into a sandbox, and actually shows you how it works. The news is the hook; the lab is the value.
Introducing the Forgebound Lab
Beyond the podcast, Cipherceval is launching the Forgebound Lab — hardware teardowns, malware analysis walkthroughs, developer-to-hacker content, creative engineering projects, and education gadgets built to teach his kids how binary and electronics actually work. It’s all driven by the same curiosity: security, making, tinkering, and learning in public.
As a software engineer by trade who’s still building his hands-on security research skills, Cipherceval is documenting the whole journey — mistakes, dead ends, and breakthroughs included. The chaos is part of the process.
